The After-School Education Program is designed to assist Native American students K-12 grades to learn and find new and creative ways to achieve success and become lifelong learners. The After School Education Program of Elko is directed and instructed by Ms. Veronica Yepez, and is supported through a team effort of the Elko Band Council, Inter-Tribal Council of Nevada's Child Care Development Fund, and the Elko Indian Colony Community.
The Elko Band Council After School Education Program is a member and collaborates with the National After School Association, National After School Alliance, Nevada After School Network, Education Advisory Committee for Native American and Alaskan Natives, and the Tribal Early Childhood Advisory Council.
The After School Education Program nurtures and inspires the students by continuing to improve the ways in which they help students succeed. The Tutors encourage the students to take responsibility for their educational experiences. The Tutors meet the students' needs academically, physically, and socially by offering a balanced curriculum of academic support, arts and cultural enrichment, recreation, and nutrition.
The After School Education Program provides a wholesome safe environment where we believe in our students, see their potential, and enhance the students' opportunities to succeed. Providing satisfactory learing opportunities is our highest mission. We believe it is important to focus on meeting the needs of the entire family while ensuring we offer a value-based program that nurtures youth development.
